Still, it’s a good album to listen for a relaxed evening. But if you compare the album with the last Rohit Shetty-SRK collaboration, Chennai Express, it may fall a few notches below. This may not be even Pritam’s best, but Dilwale has some pleasant songs that will live up to the hype of the Rohit Shetty movie. The album is nowhere as epic as DDLJ (it’s sacrilegious to even think of comparing these two!). It makes up for the lack of remixes, that’s surprising for this album, as well as welcome! The last piece of the album is a montage of all the songs, with bits and pieces edited and joined together for a pleasant listen. Unless, Varun Dhawan has some impressive moves in here…I will let this number pass! It is just one of those -run-of-the-mill kind of dance number, that you will instantly forget after one listen. But is it great song? The answer may not be a positive one for sure. Premika will not disappoint your expectations, as it is every bit a dance number you want. If you see Benny Dayal and Kanika Kapoor’s names on a song, you know instantly that it is going to be a jazzy dance number. It’s so different from the rest of the songs, that you even wonder if it is placed in the right album. This is the kind of song that Pritam specialises in, and also which is tailor-made for Arijit Singh.

It’s good to see Arijit Singh get into fun mode once in a while, after belting deep romantic songs.Įvery album has a dark horse, a hidden gem that will make an impression while all the popular numbers fade out. A fun number, that should be picturised either on Varun or SRK or could be both, it is an average song that is fun till it lasts. Just like cars being blown up, even Goa plays a key role in most of Rohit Shetty’s film, and on hearing Tukur Tukur in the first listen itself, you know it will be set in the beach capital of India. Though the song makes less impact as compared to Gerua, it will stay in your mind due to the catchy theme tune. It’s another romantic number for Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, as Arijit Singh (who is the face of this album, just like Shreya Ghoshal owned Bajirao Mastani) return to belt a high on emotions song. If you loved the theme song of Dilwale, you have to thank Janam Janam for that, as the theme music is an integral part of the song. Arijit Singh leaves a very strong impression here, though I am yet to decide if he is the right fit for SRK’s playback voice, while Antara Mitra makes for a beautiful singing companion! I must admit I was not a HUGE fan of the Arijit Singh’s romantic number picturised on Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol with the beautiful Icelandic locales for the background, when I heard (or rather, saw…) it first. The sound-track of one of the most awaited films of this year, Dilwale, is out! Let’s see if Pritam, who last worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Billu, is able to live up to SRK’s penchant of giving some real crowd pleasing music with Dilwale!
